Shortly after take-off, an Indonesian passenger plane lost contact with ground control in the capital, Jakarta. Local media say monitoring data indicates that the flight path of the Sriwijaya Air-operated plane ended off the coast just north of Jakarta. The aircraft reportedly lost an altitude of more than three thousand meters in less than one minute. 56 passengers, including seven children and six crew members, were carrying the Boeing 737-500 aircraft.
